If you read my previous post, you'll see that I had a bit of trouble getting the Synolia PDF Manager working properly ... well, as it turns out the problem was with sugarpdf settings in SugarCRM itself! The Synolia pdf manager had no overwrite settings, it was just using the default ones from the sugarpdf modules. Anywho, so playing with the settings in that file has gotten me quite a bit more ahead on the project. The TCPDF - PHP Class for PDF website was monumental in getting the changes I needed! I am not completely done yet, but am getting closer every day.

Anywho, so I saw this guy smoking on my way back from work ... while smoking itself is nothing to write about, it was just the visual that I had when I came across him as I pulled up for the stop. I swear, for a sec it looked like he had smoke coming out of his mouth, his nostrils and even his ears! Reminded me of the cartoons you see when someone ate something spicy and they have fire coming out from everywhere!!!!!

One more day, and then I have a whole week off ... can't wait! Following that, I'll be travelling to Pangnirtung, Nunavut. Its not in the Arctic circle, but its mighty close! Hopefully, it'll be nice weather there ... I expect a bit cooler than Montreal, but gorgeous nevertheless. Did you know that the name "Pangnirtung" is derived from an Inuit word said to mean "place of the bull caribou"?

Cross your fingers that I get to have some amazing polar bear photography!

OMG, one more reason to enjoy the cooler environments of Northern Canada, lol. It is extremely hot here in Montreal, and with the bright sun, you really don't want to be inside working away. Actually went out to the park today with my niece, was quite peaceful, although I don't think she enjoyed it as much due to the heat.

Can't wait till the weekend, I start my vacation for a full week ... it has been a while since I had my last vacation, although I have had many many long weekends over the last many weeks, so those are like mini-vacations, hehe. I have a couple of projects that I need to finish up, so this will be a good time to get ahead in those.

I am working on a CRM for a local company, and so decided to use SugarCRM ... what I am having trouble with right now is the Synolia PDF Manager. If anyone has worked on this before for SugarCRM v6.0.0, I'd love some help. Basically, I can see the proper formatting in the HTML view and in the edit view of the PDF Manager, but when I go to write a PDF its as if the HTML settings apply differently! Anywho, I know that the plug-in was initially written for SugarCRM 5.5, but I'm hoping someone can help me out here!

If you have ever used your Windows laptop in various networking settings, and some of them aren't using the DHCP settings, then you know how frustrating it is to go in the LAN Settings and change the configuration. If its only with two different STATIC settings, then you are ok since Windows comes with an alternate configuration tab to set two STATIC IP values.

However, if you are like me, and need more than two settings, or if you have any one setting that is on DHCP, then Windows doesn't help you at all! Enter, NetSetMan, a Network Settings Manager software that you can install on Windows and it will take care of making those changes when you need them. Yes, yes .. I know, it has been out for a while, and I have been using for quite some time now, but since this site is just new, I figured I'd add my two cents about it here too.

My initial attempt to upgrade my Ubuntu 9.04 and Ubuntu 9.10 systems to the latest release succeeded, but after a reboot it turned out that it kept kicking me out as quickly as I would log in. This become very frustrating, since the machine was pretty much a deadweight in terms of use. Not wanting to loose any of the information, or having to retrieve it from my backups, I booted into the terminal and copied over my files and then did a clean install of Ubuntu 10.04 on the machine.

Lo and behold, following a reboot, I had the same problem! Knowing that a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 (from the same CD) works ok on a separate machine, I went through the process of installing the packages and add-ons that don't come with Ubuntu one by one and rebooting after each to find the culprit. Turns out it was cairo-dock that was at fault. I have since removed it, and would love to get it back (I hate that windows style tool bar at the bottom), but I haven't found one that won't lock me out again! Hehe

Other than that, I love Lucid Lynx, it has a nice user interface, nice colour schemes, it came built-in with dual monitor support which was a must! Just to give you an idea, I am currently running this on a Compaq Presario R3000 series, with a Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor with a 2.4GHz CPU, and a 40GB HDD. The graphics card in this is an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP. Yeah, I know ... nowhere near the kind of laptops you see now, but this is my very first laptop from like 2003, and yup its still alive and kicking!
